The King James Version of the Bible is NOT the only Divine Word of God

A Berean's Journey: Examining Claims about the King James Bible

Across the internet, many people who hold the belief that the King James Bible is the only true translation of God’s Word often quote Acts 17:11. The verse describes the people of Berea who were praised because "they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." I agree with this principle wholeheartedly. We are all called to be like the ancient Bereans—to approach every claim, no matter how strongly held, with a willingness to examine the facts and search for the truth. The purpose of this website is to begin that journey together. We will examine specific claims often made by those who hold a KJB-only position. We will use historical documents, scholarly research, and of course, scripture, to understand these topics more fully. The comments section is open for respectful dialogue and for others to share their research, questions, and insights. Let's reason together in a full and honest pursuit of the ...

Issue Number One: The KJB is fruit from the Church of England and holds no special divine authority

I recently had a discussion with a KJB onlyist that went something like this:

Me: Do you believe that a Bad Tree cannot bear Good Fruit as Christ says in Matthew 7 15:20?

Them: Yes

Me: Do you believe that the Church of England is a Bad Tree?

Them: Yes

Me: Then how can the KJB be good fruit based on your logic and biblical principles?

Them: The KJB is not fruit from the Church of England but from God Himself.

Me: King James was the supreme governor of the Church of England and every one of the 47 translators who worked on the translation were either clergymen or members of the Church of England. King James never claimed that any divine intervention occurred. He commissioned the project for political purposes. How can this not be a product (fruit) of the Church of England?

That's like buying a hamburger from McDonalds and saying the hamburger is not a product of McDonalds.

Them: Because the bible says that the Divine Word will always be true.

Me: That's circular logic. Besides, nowhere in scripture does it say anything about a future translation made by a monarch 1600 years later would be the only divinely inspired version.

Them: Proceeds to firehose more unrelated scripture passages then commences with personal attacks and insults.

What do you think? Can you prove the KJB is the ONLY divinely inspired version to be used without using circular logic?
